Our story
A family saleroom since 1887
Heritage & Hearth began in a single room above a bookbinder's shop in St James's, where Edmund Hartley sold the contents of country houses to the families who were filling their own. His daughters kept the hammer in the family for three generations, and the house still sells from the same neighbourhood.
Today we run timed online sales every month, with live sales of fine art and antiques in the autumn and the spring. Each lot is catalogued by a specialist, photographed in the saleroom and described with its condition and provenance, so that you can bid without having to travel.
Alongside the sales, a shop offers fixed-price pieces from the same saleroom: silver, glass, jewellery and small furniture that did not need an auction to find a home. One account, one cart and one delivery cover both.
What we do
- Valuations for sale, insurance and probate, free and without obligation.
- Collection from your home anywhere in the country, or delivery to the saleroom.
- Careful packing and shipping for buyers, in the country and abroad.
